Sid
Sid is an urban community in the Sid district, Srem County, on the slope of Fruska Gora.
Its population is 16,311 according to the 2002 census.
It is located 104 m above sea level. It is the seat of Western Srem, situated in a very picturesque
and attractive area between the Danube River and the gentle slopes of Fruska Gora
to the north and the Sava River to the south. It is a large fruit and vineyard area,
featuring a large wine cellar. Apart from agriculture, the foodstuffs industry has also developed,
grain processing in particular. It also has a modern, industrial slaughterhouse and an edible oil
production works, as well as a textile and clothing industry. The area has much potential,
especially in the areas of hunting and fish. The memorial home and gallery of the famous painter Sava Sumanovic are located in the town.
